How has 2022 started for you?

If the past year was good for you, what will you introduce to make 2022 even better? And, if looking back at the past year, you see unaccomplished goals and missed opportunities you have the chance to start over with a clean slate. Are you wondering what to do to start the new year right because how you start the new year is likely to set the tone for the rest of the year? This is why we decided to run our annual Team NLP conference with the theme of 'How to Future Proof Your Life' to give you lots of practical ideas and strategies that you can take into your 2022.

We have 6 Keynote talks to help you create 2022...

What contributes to a life worth living?

Last October an influencer of mine, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a Hungarian American psychologist, passed away.  He wrote the book 'Flow: The Psychology of the Optimal Experience'.

“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times . . . The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile”

(Csikszentmihalyi, 1990).

There is an idea that if you just had a bigger house or more money you would be happier.  However, it has been proven that once your basis needs are met, having more of the above does not guarantee happiness.  The ideal state of 'flow' comes when you are in the zone where your level of challenge and skills are equally matched. If you are too challenged it can cause anxiety or if you are not using your skills you are bored.  For example, watching Netflix every night is low challenge/ low...

A Christmas Gift From Team NLP

Well what a year it has been yet again...perhaps the difference this year is that many people are feeling that bit wearier and rather dazed after all we have been through.  We are seeing it in our corporate and personal clients who are finding it perhaps a little harder this year to pick themselves up and keep going.

At Team NLP, we have been very mindful of this and have been digging deeper into ourselves to stay focused, purposeful and optimistic about 2022.  We thought about the contribution we can make to support and help you embrace 2022 so you can future proof your life regardless of what might come your way.  We don't have all the answers but what we do have are a set of skills that make a difference to peoples' lives.

To this end, today we have launched our second Team NLP annual online conference called 'Future Proof Your Life'.  It is on the 22nd January between 10 - 2pm.  We have 6 members of Team NLP speaking at the conference. ...

How Can You Future Proof Your Life?

Well I am back after a few weeks away from blogging. This week I have chosen the theme of 'How can you Future Proof you Life'?  We hear from one of our Master Practitioners who has used NLP to do just that.  And, an important announcement.  So stick around for the whole event!  First let's hear from Rak...

My name is Rak Ladwa, I am a full-time landlord and investor and I’ve also just turned 50!  I chose NLP as a tool to help me overcome blocks from the past and limiting decisions in the present. I wanted to think more positively, to have focus, overcome daily challenges and also set my goals and ambitions for the future.

I’ve known for a long time that certain events from the past have always haunted me daily, events from my childhood, growing up in my teenage years and throughout my young adulthood. Recently in the last 10 years, I was challenged by family politics that's left me in a state that I had experienced growing up of...

One week to go to our next NLP Practitioner course

Would you like to learn how to be at your best most of the time?

My NLP journey started back in 1997 when I was a young senior manager at one of the top 4 consultancy firms wanting to make more of an impression amongst a sea of older male colleagues.  It was tough to find a way to be listened to and taken seriously.  Every time i tried to speak up at meetings my voice seemed to get drowned out.  I remember sharing this with my boss at the time and he said he had heard that 'Neuro Linguistic Programming'  was excellent for improving your communication skills.  I spoke to someone who had taken the Practitioner course and they thoroughly recommended it.  Mind you they warned me that I should only take the course if I was really serious about making changes in my life.  I must admit that I was really curious about this and I decided to sign up.

You realise that it is these moments of decision that change starts to take place and...

What gets in the way of you changing?

Welcome to our blog where you will find inspiration and actionable advice to build resilience and success in these unprecedented times.

I am often asked why is it so tough to make changes in your life?  So I thought this week I would do my best to explain what happens and what you can do about it.

In an ideal world behaviour change would happen like this…

‘’I know exercise is good for me

Therefore, I am going for a run’’

Wouldn’t it be great if as humans we react positively and change when we learn something that could be good for us?

But, more often we know that we should do something but we choose not to…

‘’I know exercise is good for me’’

‘’But I prefer to stay at home and watch Netflix’’

I am sure that we would all recognise this example.  Even when we understand that something would bring a positive reward, we still choose to do something else.  For example, in...

Learning to live your true life

So happy to be back blogging this week after a few weeks of moving house and getting back on line.

As I wondered what to write about this week I was reminded about a client session I am delivering this week on being authentic in the workplace and it got me thinking about the importance of living our real lives.  To help prepare for my session I listened to a keynote delivered by Gareth Thomas.  If you haven't listened to any of his talks on YouTube I would encourage you to do so.  He talks about how his performance had been affected by the weight of hiding his sexuality and how being willing to be vulnerable is not a weakness rather the difference between being good and great.  He said he was performing at about 70% with the weight of what he was carrying and hiding.  Now he operates at 100% and feels free.  When asked about what advice he would give a 10 year old version of himself he said that we all go through life trying to please others...

What changes would you make if you knew you couldn't fail?

It doesn’t matter how you have lived your life until this moment. All that matters is what your dreams are, what you ache for in the future. The only moment is now. Living in the past can slow us down as much as worrying about the future. Change can happen in an instant, in the blink of an eye or the click of a finger, once you have made a decision to go for it. Think about it – you start to create your future as soon as you make a decision.

I’m curious to know, could your life be better? Ask yourself the following questions to find out:

  • Am I getting what I want out of life?
  • Do I have stretching goals for the future?
  • Am I reaching my full potential?
  • Am I fulfilled by my work?
  • Is my relationship the way I dreamed about?
  • Do I have enough money to do what I want to do with my life?
  • Is my life in balance?
  • Am I happy with my body shape?
  • Do I have enough energy to enjoy my day?

If you answered...

What would happen if you changed what you believe is possible?

‘No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.’ Eleanor Roosevelt

How was your week? Have you downloaded our free Introduction to NLP course yet?  If not, the details are at the end of this blog.  Join the growing group of people who have already made a decision to improve their lives as we come out of lockdown.

This week I want to talk about our beliefs - particularly what you believe about yourself.  I love the quote at the start of this blog as it is so true.  We choose what we believe about ourselves, although of course, many of these beliefs are formed early on in our lives, and, at an unconscious level.  We do not consciously say to ourselves this is what I am going to believe about myself.  Our beliefs evolve over our lives and then we forget they are just generalisations or something that was true for us back then.  The important thing to remember is that it doesn't need to be the same now.  You know...
