The only certainty is that nothing is certain!

I was reading an article by Deepak Chopra about uncertainty and it inspired me to blog about the link between NLP and how to deal with uncertainty.
Why are we so disturbed by uncertainty? AI is transforming the world and the way we work at an unprecedented rate. The World Economic forum Future of Jobs Report 2025 predicts that AI, big data and technological literacy will become core skills by 2030 as they grow in importance in the next 5 years. What's changing just as fast is the rise in anxiety, self-doubt and fear of an uncertain future. The following 'softer' skills were also highlighted as being core now becoming even more important by 2030:
- Resilience, flexibility and agility
- Curiosity and lifelong learning
- Creative thinking
- Empathy and active listening
- Motivation and self-awareness
In this era, the most adaptable will thrive and the most flexible will win. In fact, uncertainty is the source of an enormous power that most people never tap into. Why? Because most people get stuck in a loop with habits they can’t seem to change even if it means settling for a boring routine. It's hard to change, because as Nobel prize winner Eric Kandel found, about 80% of our mind works unconsciously and habitually, with the result that most people seek to reduce their reality to a manageable size. However, as soon as you stop, your awareness starts to expand. This paves the way for “Aha” moments, when you see that without uncertainty there would be no creativity, discovery, curiosity, or newness. Uncertainty is the place where discovery, beauty, joy, and spontaneity comes from.
This is where NLP is a game-changer because it helps you to rewire your mindset, build resilience and curiosity and seek out broader choices for your life. It gives you the courage to do things differently.
