You only achieve what you believe is possible

How well are you doing with achieving your goals?  I am sure that if I were to ask you if you had ever achieved a goal you would say 'yes'. And, if I asked you if you had ever not achieved a goal you would also say 'yes'. NLP helps us to consistently achieve our goals.  One of the reasons that you don't achieve your goals is that you don't believe deep down that it is possible. When we are setting goals the easier part is defining what you want - this work is largely completed by your conscious mind or the 'goal-setter' as we call it. Your unconscious mind is your 'goal-getter'. I wonder if you truly believe that your goals are possible, as you will only achieve what you believe.  I discovered the power of goal mapping which we now teach on our NLP Practitioner programme.  We have just finished teaching this process to our latest group of Practitioners. This is based on the work of Brian Mayne.  For free templates visit www.goalmapping.com

“If we all did the things that we are capable of doing we would literally astound ourselves” Thomas Edison

Goal mapping is a system which uses both sides of the brain to ensure quantum success. Think a thought and it creates neural activity think it again and again it becomes a pattern, that pattern becomes a habit, our habits become our character and this eventually becomes destiny….so lets think the thoughts that make a positive impact on our goals.

‘If you believe you can you can…” Henry Ford

Thinking positively and being in autonomic balance releases 1400 chemicals and creates connections which turn into new ideas and answers. Thinking negatively blocks the flow of thought, and releases 1400 chemicals which can result in us giving up. Goal mapping enables you to hold positive thoughts and follow a simple strategy to help you achieve your dream…

Remember a dream is just a goal with a time line…

To achieve we not only need knowledge and skills we need drive, attitude and confidence to allow us to excel.

The Seven Steps of Goal Mapping

1. Dream - Take time, breath in a balanced way and visualise what is it you truly desire…brain storm in a short succinct way, working with the right brain and putting your heart into it. All ideas and dreams are valid.

2. Order - Switch to the left side and using your logic and head order and prioritise your goals. Ensure you have a main goal, why it's important to you, what interim goals will support it, how will you achieve it and with whom?

3. Draw - Register your goal with your unconscious and using your right brain….just draw. Remember the unconscious loves symbols and for each stated goal there is an associated picture.

4. Why - Attach emotion to the reason for your main goal how does it feel the stronger the feeling the more compelling the goal - draw your answers.

5. When - Remember a goal is just a dream with a timeline

6. How - What gutsy actions can you take to ensure success

7. Who - Can you contact and rely on for help and who do you need advice from?

then...

Sign it - make it personal and commit

See it - look at it every day

Say it - read out loud your affirmations and talk about your goal

Live it - act as if and take action

Allow yourself the time it takes to goal map.  Be warned it becomes addictive as one goal leads to another.
