Embracing Change with NLP

Last Friday, we had our free virtual masterclass on to learn more about the fundamentals of NLP and how to use it to embrace change and create more purpose and passion in life.
In 1-hour, myself, together with my Team NLP colleagues, Tracey Grey and Kelly McSherry, managed to delve into numerous NLP concepts and how to use them for everyday life.
First, we touched on the “grey zone” concept, which is a state where we know we can achieve more but are often held back by fear of the unknown. We also discussed the ‘brilliant zone’’ and although we may never fully reach this ideal state, striving towards it makes a significant difference to our lives.
Our mission is to equip you with tools to move from the ‘’grey zone’’ to the "brilliant zone” through NLP.

Understanding NLP
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) examines how we think (neuro), use language (linguistic), and our behavioural patterns (programming). It can be thought of as an instruction manual for the brain.
• Neuro (Thoughts): We have about 60,000 thoughts daily, mostly unconscious. Understanding and challenging these thoughts is crucial since they drive behaviour and results.
• Linguistic (Language): The words and body language we use significantly affect our feelings and behaviors.
• Programming (Behavior): Our beliefs about life and our personal our potential form our behavioral "software." NLP helps us to understand determine whether these beliefs support or hinder us.
Setting and Achieving Goals
Effective goal setting involves both the "what" and the "how." The conscious mind sets goals, while the unconscious mind achieves them.
The NLP Communication Model
We receive about 2 million bits of information every second, filtering it through our senses and filters leading to distortion, deletion, and generalisations. Understanding these filters improves communication and outcomes, especially in business.
Shifting Your State
NLP shows how quickly you can change your state. For instance, adopting a positive posture and smiling can shift your mood instantly. This demonstrates the power of NLP techniques in changing feelings and behaviors.
Beliefs and Health
Our beliefs, formed early in life, influence our outcomes. Positive beliefs lead to positive outcomes and vice versa. NLP helps identify and change limiting beliefs, empowering you to achieve your goals. This extends to health, where positive beliefs can lead to better health outcomes. NLP can enhance aspects of health like social connection, exercise, sleep, and recovery.
Language and Behavior
The language we use impacts our behaviour and results. Positive, empowering language enhances interactions and outcomes, while negative language can set a negative tone. Becoming aware of and adjusting your language can lead to profound changes in how you feel.
Limiting Beliefs
To change limiting beliefs, we suggest becoming self-aware, observing your thoughts and identifying negative self-talk. By questioning the evidence behind these beliefs and recognising their origins, often from childhood or influential figures like parents or teachers, individuals can challenge and change these beliefs.
Remember, the power to change lies within you. By observing yourself and applying NLP techniques, you can transform your life and the lives of those around you.
